No. By state statute, all bills are sent to collection at the same time. We cannot legally prevent specific bills from being sent to collection. However, you may be able to pay off the bill in full prior to it being sent out or pay enough that fees will be minimal once sent. Collection fees are 15% of the outstanding bill amount by state law and increase monthly as the interest increases.

If you cannot pay your tax bill in full, we encourage you to make partial payments, as they will reduce the amount charged in interest and fees over the period the bill is delinquent. Partial payments are accepted for all bills that are still with the tax office.
No. Although bills need to be paid oldest to newest by state law, you can make any partial payment you would like. We do recommend paying more than the interest amount each payment, otherwise your tax due will not decrease.
The assessor’s office can help with available programs. The programs available are for elderly and disabled people and for veterans. The programs may have income limitations, so it would be best to contact the assessor’s office directly.
